[Chances are that somewhere along the way of finding presents for others, Izuku might come across something and make a comment about it being useful or something he might need at some point, unintentionally. But it isn't wrong that he doesn't have the most practice at this either. They could fumble their way through this together. Somehow.
He nods at the suggestion to meet back home, before.....wait?]
We're going to attack everyone by giving them the best damn presents on the planet! Better than any of their other lame gifts from their other lame friends! Gifts so good that it'll shock them to their core when they see my name on the tag!
They won't know what hit them!
[Of course Katsuki's just talking out his ass to try and boost his own ego a bit... give himself confidence that he definitely absolutely 100% will give good gifts and wont end up chickening out and buying everyone those stupid 20 dollar pre-wrapped gifts that every store sells around this time of year--
There's going to be a lot of fumbling, with these two dummies buying things together.......]
i think you're taking this a little seriously, kacchan. but at least you're enthusiastic, i guess. i'll meet you at home and we'll go from there.
[Why is his friend like this?? So much. Still, he figures he can at least try help with the rest of the presents. Maybe talk Bakugo down from some more out there choices.....]
[Katsuki grins to himself, amused that Izuku's already getting tired of his bullshit and they haven't even started yet.
He's also, admittedly, already home. Having been too lazy to leave the place to meet Izuku, and instead just making the other come to him... poor Deku has such an annoying best friend--]
Still. It doesn't take Izuku long before he heads back and makes it home again, merely stopping to grab his wallet and call out to Bakugo that he's here and ready, only briefly removing his shoes to head up to his bedroom for the wallet on his desk. They could figure out bags while out, he supposes. And hopefully, at least in some stores, get the gifts wrapped then and there as well. But he does note that they might want to get some labels.]
[While waiting for Izuku to arrive, Katsuki changes out of his pajamas after a lazy morning and gets to writing a list of people he'd like to gift in a pocket sized notepad.
It doesn't take too long for Izuku to enter the home and announce his arrival, and Katsuki gets up from a little desk in his room and heads downstairs after the other boy.]
Ready. Let's get goin', I've got a big list to get through.
[Katsuki gets to the front door first, sliding it open and holding it for Izuku.]
[Izuku asks, reaching for the list to have a look. He likely knows at least some of the people on the list to give some suggestions, at least. Hopefully. Or they could maybe ask friends if said person already has something that might be an idea. Izuku might not have been here as long, but even so. He's figuring he can at least try to help out. He pockets his keys, leaving with his backpack to help carry at least some of the presents in.]
'Bout ten people including you, but I ain't shopping for you while you're with me.
[He hands the list over to show him, the people on there being: Shoto, Deku, Mike, Hijikata, Cole, Emeth, Rinku, Chipp, and Evangeline. The core people in Katsuki's life, right now.]
It's alright if you don't know everybody. I can think of presents on my own for anyone you don't know... probably.
[Though Izuku still might be able to give good ideas if he tells him what everyone likes, so he won't count him out entirely on the gifts for the unfamiliar. He also makes note of the other boy's backpack, and keeps it in mind for smaller things as the two of them head out.]
I think I know at least most of these to be able to help out.
[Maybe not Cole. Or Emeth. But the rest he knows, at least. So he can hopefully help figure something out for almost everyone on the list. Or at least ask Bakugo what the others' interests are or something, and go from there. He shifts to raise one hand to get his backpack more securely on after they shut and lock the door and head out.]
[Katsuki grins a little, and leads the way back to Nightwake. It's not too long of a trip, and pretty soon the boys are dropped off at a bus stop near the underground mall. Katsuki, of course, hopping off first. He then waits a couple feet away for Izuku to follow, pulling his list back out to get his memory refreshed on who he's gifting to.
It really is kind of annoyingly long... ah, well. That's what happens when he lets himself make friends and family, he supposes. Sometimes it was easier when he pushed everyone away and only really had to buy gifts for his parents... but this was a lot nicer. Better.]
Ugh, I hate how cold it is here compared to home. I keep forgetting it's even winter 'cuz it's so warm all the goddamn time in Sunwaning.
[The only thing he hates about this place and the segments. The weather in Nightwake follows Japan's weather pretty well, but the boys' home is in a district that's always sunny and hot...]
[Izuku follows easily enough, keeping close as they make their way out. As they arrive at the mall, he pauses, shifting and glancing at the other. He's well aware the temperature can vary like this. So he isn't surprised that the other is feeling it, given the difference. The other had neglected to grab another layer before heading out, after all.]
Want my hoodie?
[Izuku might get a little cold, but he at least has longer sleeves on underneath his t-shirt as well, so he doesn't mind offering. If Bakugo needs it.]
[He could try to say please once in a while, but of course with Izuku he's as rude as ever even though he's quite thankful for the offer. Why did he forget to wear a second layer...
He holds his arms out expectantly, and once Izuku is able to take it off and hand it to him he pulls it on over his head. Bringing the hood up over his blonde spikes to keep his neck nice and warm.]
I'll be alright. Was there any store in particular you wanted to check first? Any particular present ideas you had? Books? Board games or....?
[Izuku figures maybe Bakugo has some vague ideas to start from at least? It can't hurt to ask. He just wants to try and see where they are at, to then be able to help from there. He wants to do what he can. And since it's him, Izuku isn't that bothered that Bakugo asks after having pulled on the hoodie. It isn't like he doesn't have others at home.]
Yeah. You mean like coats or scarves or something? There are some clothing stores that have that sort of thing, sure. Maybe this one? That mannequin has a coat, want to try there first?
[He figures it is a start. He wanted to help out, and at least he could point out some options. Izuku can try and help find some ideas for Bakugo to go through and find specifics that he thinks his friends might like or need. He points out one of the stores as they glance around, checking if Bakugo wants to look in there first.]
[Katsuki will follow Izuku into the store, a little amused that they're going in the first shop with clothing that they could find. It doesn't hurt to look everywhere, even if the storefront doesn't immediately catch his eye.
Especially because this store looks a little boring to Katsuki, but immediately when they enter something catches his eye. He goes straight for it-- a fancy pink, furry parka made for a little girl.]
You ever met Emeth, Deku? She's another person Mike "adopted", which makes me her nii-chan in this little fucked up family we've got goin' on.
[Which is why he's looking at something so cutesy and small.]
Emeth-chan? Hm. I'm not sure if I've met her yet. But ah, I guess that is pretty cute. I'm sure she'd like it!
[It is cute. Something he'd probably think of getting for Eri back home. She's still so young and timid, he really does hope she continues to get more comfortable and confident, now she's in a better place at UA. Getting support and care she should have had all along.
But they didn't come here to make him dwell on how much he misses everyone back home. So he tries to focus, checking the sizes.]
Ah, what size do you think she is? Or, ah, would Mike-san know? If we check with him?
[Katsuki is looking over the coat as Izuku remarks about it being cute, and he checks a sign nearby to see the price. It's a little expensive, but to Katsuki that just means it's higher quality. It looked like it was made of a good enough material, and the fur felt soft and warm...
He's thinking it over as the other boy asks about size, but there's something about Izuku's tone that gets him to pause and look over at him. Katsuki's known the other since they were babies, so it's pretty immediate that he sees this sad look behind Izuku's eyes and it gets him to frown.]
We can check with Mike, but... are you okay, Deku? You look like a kicked puppy.
Hm? Ah, it's nothing. I'm fine. It just sort of reminded me of Eri-chan.
[He'd been excited, to celebrate with her back home. Still, at least here, he can celebrate with all his new friends. Friends he wouldn't have met back home. Izuku is glad for that. It's just hard not to feel a certain sort of way about missing everyone back home. Still, he doesn't mean to ruin the mood or anything, so he's quick to try and instinctively reassure his friend. Because he is fine. Really.]
[Katsuki's expression softens a little at the mention of the little girl, and he looks back at the coat for a couple of quiet seconds.]
...it's around the six month mark since you got here, yeah? That's about when it kicked in for me too.
Being homesick, I mean.
[It's tough spending the holidays away from home... away from Japan. It's not like it's a HUGE deal for families to celebrate Christmas, but it's a newer tradition that's been picking up here and there. And it's also a good time to spend with friends, too. Their last Christmas back home was kind of fun, spending it in the dorms... it probably would've been even more fun, a whole year later. With stronger bonds and all.]
I dunno how long it'll take for us to get home again, but when we do? We'll buy Eri somethin' just as nice as this to make up for bein' gone.
[Izuku nods in calculating since he arrived. It seems about right.
Though, even if Japan might not make as big a thing of it, or celebrate quite the same way as in America, they still celebrate the holidays all the same. And it was strange a prospect to do so without at least his mother, if not all their friends together. Without teaching Eri about the holidays and getting to spoil her. Still, he knows it just means that they need to do what they can here. Together with their new friends. His expression softens and he smiles, nodding.]
Right! Yeah. We can get her something really nice!
