[Katsuki is looking over the coat as Izuku remarks about it being cute, and he checks a sign nearby to see the price. It's a little expensive, but to Katsuki that just means it's higher quality. It looked like it was made of a good enough material, and the fur felt soft and warm...
He's thinking it over as the other boy asks about size, but there's something about Izuku's tone that gets him to pause and look over at him. Katsuki's known the other since they were babies, so it's pretty immediate that he sees this sad look behind Izuku's eyes and it gets him to frown.]
We can check with Mike, but... are you okay, Deku? You look like a kicked puppy.
Hm? Ah, it's nothing. I'm fine. It just sort of reminded me of Eri-chan.
[He'd been excited, to celebrate with her back home. Still, at least here, he can celebrate with all his new friends. Friends he wouldn't have met back home. Izuku is glad for that. It's just hard not to feel a certain sort of way about missing everyone back home. Still, he doesn't mean to ruin the mood or anything, so he's quick to try and instinctively reassure his friend. Because he is fine. Really.]
[Katsuki's expression softens a little at the mention of the little girl, and he looks back at the coat for a couple of quiet seconds.]
...it's around the six month mark since you got here, yeah? That's about when it kicked in for me too.
Being homesick, I mean.
[It's tough spending the holidays away from home... away from Japan. It's not like it's a HUGE deal for families to celebrate Christmas, but it's a newer tradition that's been picking up here and there. And it's also a good time to spend with friends, too. Their last Christmas back home was kind of fun, spending it in the dorms... it probably would've been even more fun, a whole year later. With stronger bonds and all.]
I dunno how long it'll take for us to get home again, but when we do? We'll buy Eri somethin' just as nice as this to make up for bein' gone.
[Izuku nods in calculating since he arrived. It seems about right.
Though, even if Japan might not make as big a thing of it, or celebrate quite the same way as in America, they still celebrate the holidays all the same. And it was strange a prospect to do so without at least his mother, if not all their friends together. Without teaching Eri about the holidays and getting to spoil her. Still, he knows it just means that they need to do what they can here. Together with their new friends. His expression softens and he smiles, nodding.]
Right! Yeah. We can get her something really nice!
